Travelling circus secures quarter final spot.

Barnsley captain James Bentley won the toss and decided to bat. Tom Clifford and George Tyas opened the first act with a superb display of running between the wickets, managing to run themselves out 3 times. In between the comical running, both batsmen managed to play some cracking shots, with George hitting a great four and Tom playing some great cover drives, unfortunately finding well placed fielders.

Next in the ring were Elliott Akeister and Harry Fox. Elliott looked full of confidence and tucked straight into the Stainborough bowling, smashing shots all over the ground. Harry played diligently and was an excellent foil for Elliott who did exactly what was asked of him. He played with a fine straight bat and picked up some first-rate runs.

Then, the energetic duo, Jak Rennison and Alex Gough, entered the big top arena. They managed to push up the Barnsley total, with Jak playing some expansive shots and Alex supporting him. Both players ran well between the wickets and this was pleasing to see (at last).

To finish the first half of the show, Eddie Daley and James Bentley both batted and ran well. Each of them played some first class, aggressive shots and both remained undefeated (well done James!)

Barnsley 49

Barnsley would need a great bowling and fielding display to turn this match around and this was just what the lads delivered. James Bentley opened the bowling with a neat, accurate couple of overs. Jak Rennison produced a sizzling over to keep the Stainborough batsmen pegged down.

Tom Cilifford, Harry Fox, Elliott Akeister, George Tyas and Alex Gough all bowled outstandingly and with the final few overs remaining, the match could easily have gone either way. Elliott, Jak and James were left to finish off the remaining overs and some immense and precise bowling saw Barnsley close the curtain on the proceedings, leaving Stainborough 11 runs short of victory.

A fantastic bowling and fielding display saw Barnsley B triumph, although it should have been easier. The running between the wickets has got to improve; it surely can't get any worse (or can it? I dread to think). In the field, Elliott again looked positive and pulled off a couple of fine stops, as did Harry Fox. Concentration does wander at times and we have to learn to be focused on the task in hand, but I'm sure this will come as we progress.

M.O.T.M Elliott Akeister (Good, solid batting and fielding)
