Fair Maiden

This week's game requires a slightly different match report, as all the team played very well against a depleted, but enthusiastic and hard working Silkstone side.

First, welcome to James Maddock who made his debut with Barnsley B with a confident bowling performance, taking a wicket with his first ball. It can get better than that though James; we expect a ‘hat trick' next time.

Barnsley fielded with self-assurance and eagerness, a feature which has been improving throughout the season and one that we will need ‘in spades' in forthcoming matches.

Eddie Daley had an outstanding game, giving an accomplished and successful batting and wicket keeping display. Harry Fox and Tom Clifford both bowled conscientiously achieving a number of wickets and the usual ‘front line' bowlers adapted and controlled their bowling to enable the Silkstone team to show their strengths and abilities; a very sporting, respectful gesture which pervaded throughout the Barnsley team.

This was one of the most enjoyable fixtures we have had this year, largely due to the attitude of sportsmanship, friendliness and enjoyment of the game, shown by both the teams and their supporters. The weather helped as well of course.

Well done Barnsley, and thank you Silkstone. We will look forward to playing you in the future.
