Not out?

Tom Clifford was named captain for the match against Darton, he won the toss and elected to bat. Tom opened the batting with Daniel Cutler both batsmen played to a satisfactory standard and remained undefeated.

Spencer Lavender and Elliott Akeister followed the opening pair with gusto. This powerhouse pairing piled on the runs both batsmen striking the ball well and finding the boundary a number of times.

This high scoring pair was followed by Jak Rennison and Alex Gough who continued to play effectively with only a minor blemish at the end of the innings when Alex was caught behind stretching to play a shot on the offside( the snick could be heard in Barnsley town centre).

Finishing off the innings were Tom Briggs and Harry Fox, Tom batted very aggressively hitting several boundaries off his legs. Harry batted very tentatively but remained undefeated.

Total 111 for 1

Opening the bowling attack Spencer and Jak managed to keep the Darton opening pair under close control . Tom, Daniel and Alex all continued the bowling with aggression and accuracy with Alex and Tom both getting a wicket each.

Harry and Elliott bowled superbly with Elliott achieving a maiden over and Harry bowled as well as I have ever seen him bowl. It was left to Spencer and Elliott to finish off the innings confidently. Spencer bowled exceptionally well earning him the M.O.T.M award.

Darton 48 for 8

So all in all a good display particularly in the fielding and bowling arenas, well done Barnsley and thank you to an improving Darton team for an entertaining and sporting game.
